Welcome, everyone! Thanks for tuning in. I've added lots of "new" photos.

Thanks go to Kenneth Kaiven, Debbie Peacock, and Cajun Edd White for taking and sharing the pics. They've made it very easy for me to choose some great images to show y'all.

Trevor and I have been having a blast doing our regular Monday night gig at Blue Dahlia Bistro. Everything about this place is really fun: the food, the staff, the plants, the location. We can't wait to see you out there! Check out the Jazz toad:
He likes the jungly plants and our awesome Jazz stylings. Kenny pics |

How about a Truluck's table?
Clockwise from top: Matt Russell and I, I'm singing and Shawn Ellison's playing, Floyd Domino on keys there, cute red and white dress.

Upon the encouragement of Debbie Peacock, manager to the Jazz Pharaohs, I've put together a fine group of players and named us all the Violet Crown Jazz Revue. We had a great "debut" at the ER on July 9th, and we'll be back there for the happy hour show on August 14. Here are some pictures taken by Debbie at the July 9th premiere:

Being in a band named Violet Crown Jazz Revue dictates that I must have plenty of purple dresses in which to perform. You can bet I started shopping the minute I thought up the name! Hey--I don't need any excuse to buy dresses, but this is a fine one, don't you think?
Forgive my self indulgent inclusion of multiple same-dress pics. I will use these tables in the future to remind myself of what is good and what is not-so-good when putting together my duds. (It's all for Science.)

I'd forgotten about this ensemble. I hardly ever wear those boots. But when I do--ouch! I'm a child of the Eighties, it's plain to see. Final verdict: I'm standing by my choices and voting "yes" on this one. Edd pics |

And typing of crazy outfits...

Yowsers! That's Terry Hale on bass and Rick McRae on guitar accompanying me, again at McCormick & Schmick's. My dress was the loudest thing on that gig! And the tights and shoes in addition to the dress? Wow. (There's yellow in the shoes...I was doing little splashes of yellow, I guess.) Edd pics |
Speaking of Stanley Smith, he is doing wonderfully after his Summer '07 kidney transplant. We're so happy for his fabulous recovery.

Stan would like to thank all his dear friends for their help during his healing period. He also wants to really encourage any musicians who may not have medical coverage to check out the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians and enroll! Become a member! And get regular, annual check-ups. It's very important for the health of your body. We want you healthy, Austin musicians! Click up there or here to check out HAAM. |
Stanley "King Tut" Smith has invited me to sing with the Jazz Pharaohs as a Pha-rette "proper." It's about time I get some pics up of the Pharaohs proper. Here they all are, in all their splendor:
The photo above is of (from left to right) Dave Biller on guitar, Stanley Smith on clarinet, Jon Doyle on tenor sax, and J.D. Pendley on guitar.
The photo above is one that Nari took on a January '08 Wednesday. As you can see down the line, San Antonio's Jim Cullum sat in with us on cornet. From left to right: Dave Biller, Stan Smith, Freddie Mendoza, Jim Cullum, J.D. Pendley, Jon Doyle, Ryan Gould, and Lizi. |
Dave Biller is one of Austin's finest guitarists. You can catch him all over the place: the Continental Club, the Elephant Room, Hole In the Wall, touring the state on steel guitar, you name it. He plays for cat after cat on record after record. Amazing stuff. In Nari's picture below, you can really see him "shaking out the match."
|
Here's Ryan Gould being cute whilst playing his doghouse bass fiddle. Ryan's a part of lots of things here in AusTex: Aunt Ruby's Sweet Jazz Babies and the Giant Three, to name a couple.
|
Jon Doyle doesn't only play saxophone, he can wail on a clarinet we he feels like it, too! I just adore this pic of him and Stan blowing together. You can just imagine how fabulous they sound complimenting each other.
|
Yay! We get to see Damien Llanes on his drum kit! He's tucked away behind everybody else in most of my pics. Just like every other Pharaoh, Damien is a busy boy. You can catch him drumming for Barfield and Hey Bale!, as well as dozens of other bands around town. Gotta love all the sparkles in that throne of his. |
J.D. Pendley's been playing guitar with the Pharaohs for almost half a year now. J.D.'s great, and sometimes he joins me at Evangeline Cafe for my 1st Thursday gig. He plays with the Giant Three, as well as Paris 49.
|
And now for my miscellaneous picture blowout:
Kenny took these Cedar Street Courtyard shots of Jacob Wise on guitar, Lizi on mic and Aaron Allen on bass in September. Hey, I know that chart...we're doing "Corcovado" down there! Cool shot, Kenny.
|
My E.R. gig on September 28th was a lot of fun, as always. Will Schulz on bass (above) joined me and Ryan Murphy and Tyler Summers, and Sick showed up (below) and sat in on a couple of tunes with his fiddle. Fantastic!
|
Here's a shot from my October 13, '06 McCormick & Schmick's gig. Carter Arrington joined me on guitar, and Kris Afflerbaugh joined us on bass. Below is a table of some of my favorite fans: Dale, Barbara, Moody and Alice (from left to right).
|
I had Aaron Allen on bass and Ryan Murphy on piano fortifying my debut at Eddie V's Edgewater Grille on September 29, '06. That's my Gingy's high school class ring I'm wearing on my right hand...
|
How much do I love Rich Harney on keys? Let me count the ways: I love his style, I love his warmth, I love his endings, I love his beginnings...I love Rich Harney! |
I'm going to leave this shot up. I'm still really digging the dress and the shoes and the glasses combo. |
A web site update calls for some new primate pics, too, of course!

This Verreaux sifaka is a true looker, and the camera obviously loves it.
What a handsome young red capped mangabey the camera has captured. |
Here's a young Francois langur munching on a leaf. |
Look at this leaping little lemur! I bet its mom is very proud of it. |
One more picture...
Here I am at my 25th B-Day party. The theme was '80s. I was a Valley Girl. I braided my own headband, thank you very much! I'm so sure!!!
Come see us perform, everybody! We're still out there--we're out there more and more every month. Thanks!!!
